	Auroschnitt Swiss fixative used only for edge gilding. Auroschnitt is a clear solution which is brushed onto the carefully cut and prepared textblock edges. Gold leaf is immediately applied and allowed to dry before burnishing and removing from the press.

	Armenian Bole - Traditional red clay that is ground and mixed with paste-water and applied to textblock edges prior to gilding. It provides the warm glow often seen on gilded surfaces.

	Chemical Egg White - A preparation used to "fix" gold when tooling; unlike true egg white glaire, this solution does not have a limited shelf life.

	Graphite - Finely ground pure graphite that, when mixed with a paste water or egg glaire is rubbed well into a prepared textblock edge. Darkens to a silvery gray-black surface. Very elegant.
