A
fascinating account of the well-known British bookbinder. Mr.
Middleton was born to the trade of bookbinding, commencing his
formal training at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London,
in 1938. Except for the war years, his entire professional
life has been devoted to craft bookbinding and restoration. He
has also written several important books on bookbinding. One
of the founders of the present Designer Bookbinders organization, he
has been called "the most skillful book restorer at work today."
He is also known for his elegant gold-tooled design bindings, some
of which are shown in this book. This special, limited edition
book is available in very limited quantities, either in sheets, or
