Triple Crown Leather Dressing

(formerly Fredelka Leather Dressing)

Cleans and penetrates leather.  Replaces original oils, preventing embrittlement.  Offers a buffer against external pollutants.  Compound of neatsfoot oil (animal and non-drying oils), beeswax, and microwax.  Originally formulated as "Fredelka" leather dressing for book leathers, the same compound is now produced for the horse trade as well, and carries the new name shown here.

Suggested application:  1)Apply lightly, at room temperature, with small brush or soft rag at room; 2) allow ample time for deep penetration (10min. to 1 hour); 3) two or three applications preferable; 4) buff lightly with soft cloth or brush.

Klucel-G

Hydroxypropylcellulose, a cellulose ether adhesive soluble in water, alcohol, acetone, and many other solvents.  A 2% solution in ethanol or isopropanol has been used as a consolidant for red rot leathers. Rarely darkens undamaged leather. Can be followed by a thin surface coating of microcrystalline wax for a hard, durable finish.  Also used as a consolidant by textile conservators.

Renaissance Wax

A blend of highly refined microcrystalline waxes which, unlike animal-based waxes, remains neutral.  Developed by conservators at the British Museum for use on furniture and books, it can be used on any other solid surface as well, including wood, marble, onyx, metal, stone, ivory, etc.  When dry, it leaves a durable surface that resists scratches.  Frequently used as an after treatment on leathers with "red rot" which have been consolidated with Klucel G.  8-ounce tin.

SC6000 Leather Dressing

Developed in England, this protective surface coating cream does not darken the leather as much as most leather dressings, and leaves a lovely sheen on the leather.  Although developed for use on leather, we have seen its popular application on cloth and paper hinges, and even applied to some marbled papers.
